White Card Course Description
To help reduce the prevalence of accidents and injuries in construction, and improve everyone's safety, the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 set out mandatory requirements for construction induction safety training for anyone needing to access and / or work on a construction site in Australia.
The White Card Course Melbourne is designed for people who need general construction induction training before working on a construction site in VIC.
This course covers the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and introduces students to essential Work Health and Safety responsibilities, common construction hazards, risk management principles, workplace safety procedures and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Delivered face to face by experienced trainers, the course helps students understand what is expected before entering a construction workplace.

- White Card Suitability and Prerequisites

Before booking, make sure you can meet the following course requirements.
- Students must be at least 14 years old.
- Students must have a basic understanding of English.
- Students need a valid Unique Student Identifier, known as a USI.
- Students must bring original physical photo ID identification.
- Students must be able to complete assessment requirements in English.
International visitors and visa holders
Eligible visa holders, working holiday makers and other temporary visa holders may be able to complete the VIC White Card course, provided they meet the entry, ID, USI and English requirements. Completing the course does not change your visa conditions or provide work rights. - White Card ID Requirements

- White Card Assessment

- Training must be conducted over a minimum period of 5 to 6 hours + breaks.
- A Statement of Training (SOT) must be issued to students if they satisfactorily complete all assessments, demonstrating competency in the program.
- Due to White Card being a Government Initiative, students will have to complete ALL training hours required. Insufficient ID and being over 10 minutes late (including from lunch breaks) will automatically deem the student ineligible to start the course on that date. Students will need to contact our office to rebook, and process any relevant rescheduling fee in line with our policy.

Within the 5 to 6 hours + breaks of the accredited White Card Melbourne course, students will be required to complete multiple choice questions, short answer questions and a verbal assessment in English throughout the day. Students will receive lunch breaks which is not included in the 6 hours and please note, lunch is not provided. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills throughout the course to deem them competent across the unit.
There are 3 components to this White Card program:
- Theoretical training in the classroom
- Practical training in the classroom
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills
This White Card Assessment course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills.
Assessments MUST be completed in English and with no further assistance. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office on 02 9232 1010 to discuss your training needs.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the White Card Assessment course at a $50 NYC Fee.
- White Card Certification
Once student is deemed competent, they will be issued a SOA (Statement of Attainment) which will be valid for 60 days after issued. With this certificate, students can go onto any construction site immediately after the course. WorkSafe VIC will post the final White Card to the students address which can take up to 60 days.

- How much does the White Card Course cost in Melbourne?

The TCP Training White Card Course in Melbourne is $129 per person. This includes your required training, assessment, course materials and required course documentation after successful completion.
Payment can be made at the time of booking using either a credit card, EFTPOS or cash. Invoices and acceptance of company cheques is by prior arrangement only.
We do not offer payment installments and full payment of course fees are required at the time of booking. The good news is that we try to always offer value for money and keep course fees affordable, so you know that you are always getting good value, especially with our package deals which offer reduced prices!
- How long does the White Card Course take?

The course runs for approximately 5 to 6 hours + breaks. Students must attend the required face-to-face training session and complete the assessment activities.
- Is this White Card Course online or face to face?

This is a face-to-face White Card Course delivered at TCP Training in Melbourne CBD. Students attend a classroom session with a trainer and complete the required training and assessment activities in person.
- What ID do I need to bring?

- What happens if I forget my ID?

You may not be able to complete the course if you do not bring the required original physical identification. Check your ID requirements carefully before attending.
- Can I work straight after completing the course?

Once you are deemed competent, you will receive a Statement of Training that is valid for 60 days. This allows you to go onto a construction site while SafeWork VIC posts your physical White Card.
- Do I receive my physical White Card on the day?

No. Your physical White Card is posted by SafeWork VIC to your address. After successful completion, you receive a Statement of Training that can be used for up to 60 days while you wait for the physical card.
- Does a White Card expire?

A White Card does not expire. However, a refresher may be recommended if you have not worked in construction for two or more years.
- Do I need to bring PPE?

No. Students are not required to bring their own PPE to complete the TCP Training White Card Course.
- Can international students complete the VIC White Card course?

TCP Training is not CRICOS registered. The VIC White Card Course is exempt from CRICOS registration, and eligible student visa holders may undertake training.
- What if I have trouble with written/spoken english?

Most courses will permit a student to bring a friend to interpret for them during training. If you do need assistance, we ask that you contact first before booking your course so we can advise if there are any restrictions. For example, Forklift training requires students to complete all assessments in English.
If the course permits, you may bring a friend along to the course or, alternatively, you can phone the National Translation service to book an interpreter. Visit the Immigration website for more information about help with translating.
- Is the VIC White Card recognised Australia-wide?
